Project Overview

UrbanLfye is a service ordering platform built to connect everyday users with skilled professionals across a wide range of blue-collar trades, from plumbing and electrical work to cleaning, carpentry, and other essential services. I designed the complete experience across three interconnected applications: the user app for finding and booking professionals, the professional app for managing job requests and schedules, and the admin dashboard for overseeing the platform, delivering all three in both light and dark mode.

Project Goals

The goals for UrbanLfye were to build genuine trust between users and unfamiliar service professionals through clear verification, ratings, and pricing transparency; to design a professional-facing app simple enough for tradespeople of varying digital comfort levels to use confidently; to create a category and browsing system flexible enough to handle a wide range of blue-collar services without becoming confusing; and to give the operations team strong oversight tools to maintain quality and trust as the platform scaled across many service categories.

Project Challenges

The core challenge with UrbanLye was designing trust into a marketplace connecting users with professionals they've never met before, for services often performed inside their own homes. Users needed enough information, ratings, verification signals, and clear pricing, to feel confident booking a stranger for sensitive work like electrical repairs or home cleaning. On the professional side, many users of the app would be tradespeople who may not be highly comfortable with complex digital tools, so the professional app needed to be simple and efficient enough to use confidently between jobs, often on the move. Meanwhile, with potentially dozens of different service categories, from blue-collar trades of very different natures, the platform needed a browsing and categorization system flexible enough to handle that variety without becoming a confusing, overstuffed menu.

My Approach

I approached UrbanLye by first designing a clear, trust-building professional profile system for the user app, surfacing verification badges, ratings, completed job counts, and transparent pricing prominently, so users could make a confident decision quickly rather than second-guessing an unfamiliar tradesperson. Category browsing was organized around clear, familiar service groupings so users could find the right kind of professional intuitively regardless of how specific or broad their need was.
For the professional app, I prioritized simplicity above all else, designing a straightforward job request and acceptance flow, clear schedule management, and simple earnings tracking, all built with larger, clearer interface elements suited to professionals who might be checking the app quickly between jobs rather than sitting down with focused attention.
For the admin dashboard, I designed tools for verifying and onboarding new professionals, monitoring active jobs across categories, and handling disputes or quality issues, giving the operations team the oversight needed to maintain trust across the marketplace at scale. All three apps were built in both light and dark mode from a shared underlying design system to keep the entire platform visually and functionally consistent.

What I Delivered

I delivered complete designs for the user app, professional app, and admin dashboard, each fully realized in both light and dark mode. For the user app, this included service category browsing, professional profile and rating pages, booking and scheduling flows, in-app messaging, and payment and receipt screens. For the professional app, this included job request and acceptance flows, schedule and availability management, navigation and job-in-progress screens, and earnings and payout tracking. For the admin dashboard, this included professional verification and onboarding tools, live job and category monitoring, dispute resolution workflows, and platform-wide analytics, all unified under one consistent visual and component system across every part of the platform.

The Outcome

The completed UrbanLfye platform gave users a noticeably more confident booking experience, with stakeholders reporting that the clearer trust signals, verification badges, ratings, and transparent pricing, translated into a meaningfully higher booking completion rate compared to earlier versions of the product. Professionals found the simplified job management flow easy to adopt even with limited prior experience using complex apps, which helped the platform onboard tradespeople more quickly and with less support intervention. The admin team reported that the new verification and monitoring tools made it significantly easier to maintain quality and trust across a rapidly growing and highly varied set of service categories, which was critical given how much the platform's credibility depends on consistent professional quality.
